Decide where to attend – This may sound elementary, but many students put this off until the last minute. There are many advantages to making this decision early. Pay close attention to deadlines!
Schedule a visit – Sit down with the admissions and financial aid experts. They are the best source of information when it comes to their college.
Apply – Students will not be considered for scholarships or federal financial aid until they are accepted into the college. Most colleges have a deadline for scholarships and if a student is not accepted by that date then they will not qualify.
Search for Scholarships/Grants - Beginning the Fall of your Senior year, conduct scholarship searched and research scholarship opportunities announced by your counselor. Be sure to check this page often, new scholarships and grants are posted monthly.
Begin Financial Aid process - To prepare to apply for federal student aid, both the student and at least one parent/guardian need to register for a personal identification number at www.pin.ed.gov. The PIN is required initially to electronically sign your online FAFSA and to later access your information.
