quarter during the year highlighting MCCC students,
activities and accomplishments.

Going to Disney World!
Chef and Restaurant Management graduate
Christopher Bower's childhood dream is
coming true. Chris recently earned a food service internship
at the Disney World Resort. Chris is currently employed as a
preparation and pantry chef at Westfield Country Club. He
works in the clubhouse and the Blair Center. Coincidentally,
Chris' boss and mentor, Executive Chef Andy
Gerspacher, also attended the MCCC's Chef and
Restaurant Management program.

Team 330 in Orlando
From June 28 to July 2, Engineering
Technologies and Design juniors Tyler Arnold,
James Black,Connor Chronowski,
and Mike Rodriguez will be in Orlando competing
in the National Formula One Technology Challenge. After winning
first place and the Judge's Choice Award at theF1 state
competition in Shelby, Ohio, the members of Team 330 feel
confident about their chances of winning at the national level.
During the 2007-2008 school year, the students worked as a team
to design and create a small-scale car resembling a real F1 race
car. Their balsa wood creation, powered by a CO2 cartridge,
reaches a speed of 60miles per hour in approximately one second.

NCCC Car Show
On May 11, the MCCC Presidents
Council and Medina Auto Mall
sponsored the annual MCCC Car Show. Students were
responsible for planning the day's activities. Many
career programs, including Chef and Restaurant
Management, Landscape Design, Graphic Art & Printing
Technology, Multi-Media/Digital Design, Public Safety,
and Cosmetology participated in the event.

Farewell Seniors
For seniors
attending the Medina County Career Center, May 22 was
their last day of high school. In the morning, seniors
were treated to a continental breakfast served by Career
Center staff. That evening, the seniors attended
an awards ceremony in their honor. Students
received their Career Passport and certificates for
outstanding achievements. The speakers at the Awards
Ceremony were graduating MCCC students. <more>
Record Breakers
On June 7, Hillary Perrea,
a junior in Multi-Media/Digital Design, and Zach
Marinucci, a junior in Heating, Ventilation and Air
Conditioning, competed in the State Track and Field
Competition in Columbus. Both athletes were awarded second

Taylor's Dancing
At the age of six, Taylor Lenaghanwon
a t-shirt in a dance recital. She has been dancing ever
since! During her eleven years as a dance student, Taylor
has practiced many different types of dancing including
Jazz, Ballet, Pointe (dancing with a wooden block in the toe
of the shoe) and Hip Hop. "I would have to say Hip Hop is my
favorite. I love to go out dancing with my friends and even
like to break dance."

Brad's Bowling
Brad Mennell's average
bowling score is 207 per game. He has been an avid bowler
since the age of five when his mom suggested he learn the
sport. Brad said, "I have stayed with bowling over the
years because it's fun and I have made a lot of friends on
the lanes."Currently, Brad is a member of the Medina Lanes
Junior Match Play League and bowls at least once a week.
At tournaments, Brad competes against other bowlers under
the age of 21. He has been successful enough at the district
level to qualify for the state meet for the last three
consecutive years. Brad said, "I'm hoping to bowl well
enough to make it to the national competition next fall.".

2008 NHTS Inductees
National Technical Honor
Society members are among the most outstanding
students in their class. Each inductee has maintained a
minimum 3.3 grade point average for three consecutive
academic semesters and has been nominated by the Medina
County Career Center faculty. Members of NTHS possess the
characteristics of scholarship, service, skill,
responsibility, honesty, leadership, and citizenship. <more>
Young Author
Jessica Zolnowski has
been writing since she was ten years old. "I started writing
romance novels, but have moved into young adult fiction,"
commented the Animal Management and Care
senior. Jessica continued, "I often find the inspiration for
my stories in my dreams. Most of my writing is very
character driven. I typically do not write short stories
because there is not enough character development." However,
Jessica's short story, "The Truth-Bearer," was awarded first
place in the high school division of the Wayne
College Student Writing Competition. She was the
only student from Medina County to receive the award.

Blood Drive Wins Award
MCCC students donated their time and
their blood to the Red Cross on two separate occasions
during the school year. In a collaborative effort, students
in the Diversified Medical Technologies and
Public Safety programs hosted the Red Cross
blood drives on campus<more>
