Coming 2008 to the Medina County Career Center


The Medina County Career Center is proud to announce a new program beginning fall 2008

Optical Technology
Students will learn specific knowledge and skills to begin their career in an optical laboratory including the manufacturing, fitting and evaluating the accuracy of eyeglass prescriptions.

Program Highlights

  • Anatomy & physiology of the eye
  • Preliminary eye exam basics of ocular surgery
  • Ophthalmology ethics and scope of practice
  • Ocular injuries
  • Spectacles and contacts
  • Private and retail practices

Employment Opportunities

  • Create lenses according to specifications provided by opticians, optometrists or ophthalmologists
  • Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses and adjust finished eyeglasses

  • Manufacture lenses for other optical instruments such as telescopes and binoculars
